Coca-Cola & Boeing Earnings in Focus 28/07/2026

HOT stories for today

Market wrap:

  • US stocks ended mixed on Monday as easing oil prices helped support the broader market, while weakness in semiconductor shares weighed on technology stocks ahead of a crucial week for markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained more than 260 points, or about 0.5%, while the S&P 500 edged slightly higher. The Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.2% as investors took profits in chipmakers following their recent rally. Asian markets came under pressure overnight, led by South Korea, where the Kospi tumbled 10% as heavyweight technology stocks including Samsung and SK Hynix declined sharply. S&P 500 futures also traded lower in early Tuesday trading. Investors are now focused on one of the busiest weeks of the earnings season.
  • Amazon (AMZN), Meta Platforms (META), Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple (AAPL) are all scheduled to report, with results expected to provide fresh insight into AI spending and whether hyperscalers will maintain their aggressive investment pace. Attention also turns to Wednesday's Federal Reserve interest-rate decision. While policymakers are widely expected to leave rates unchanged, investors will closely watch the statement and Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference for clues on the outlook for monetary policy. Tuesday's calendar includes the latest US consumer confidence report, while Coca-Cola (KO), UPS (UPS), Corning (GLW) and Boeing (BA) are among the companies reporting before the opening bell. Markets will also continue to monitor developments in the Middle East, oil prices, and Treasury yields.

Oil Extends Slide as US-Iran Tensions Ease

  • Oil prices extended their decline on Tuesday as a pause in fighting between the US and Iran raised hopes that the conflict may be moving toward de-escalation. Brent crude futures for September delivery fell more than 1% to $87.24 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate declined 1.2% to $81.60. Although Tehran has denied agreeing to a formal 10-day ceasefire, the temporary halt in hostilities has reduced immediate fears of attacks on energy infrastructure and major supply disruptions.
  • Reports that concerns over US munitions stockpiles influenced military planning also helped ease risk premiums. President Donald Trump dismissed suggestions that the US was running short of weapons, saying the military had sufficient supplies. Analysts cautioned that the situation remains fragile. Any renewed dispute involving the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments, could quickly reignite tensions and send prices higher again.
