Bitcoin Rises But Still Wobbly 26/02/2026

HOT stories for today

Market wrap:

  • U.S. stocks climbed for a second straight session, with the S&P 500 rising 0.8% on Wednesday. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite led gains, jumping about 1.3%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added roughly 307 points, or 0.6%. Software and big tech rebounded in regular trading. Oracle advanced 1.2%, and all seven members of the “Magnificent Seven” finished higher. Microsoft, one of this year’s laggards, surged about 3%.
  • Even so, sentiment in software and cybersecurity remains shaky as investors weigh whether fast-improving AI tools could disrupt incumbent vendors’ business models. In after-hours action, Nvidia edged up after the chipmaker topped fourth-quarter earnings and revenue estimates. Salesforce slid more than 4% after issuing a downbeat outlook for fiscal 2027 revenue. Looking ahead, traders will be watching results Thursday from Warner Bros. Discovery, Dell Technologies, and CoreWeave. Investors also have weekly jobless claims due Thursday, followed by January producer price index data on Friday.

Nvidia Beats, Stock Shrugs

  • Nvidia Inc. delivered another blockbuster quarter, but the market response was notably restrained. The AI-chip leader reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $68.1 billion, up 73% from a year earlier, while adjusted earnings came in at $1.62 a share, comfortably ahead of estimates. The data-center division once again did the heavy lifting, generating $62.3 billion in sales as hyperscalers and enterprises continued pouring money into AI infrastructure. For the current quarter, Nvidia guided to roughly $78 billion in revenue, topping Wall Street expectations and extending a now-familiar beat-and-raise streak.
  • Even so, the stock’s muted after-hours move underscored just how elevated investor expectations have become after the company’s historic run. The debate on Wall Street is shifting. Investors broadly agree Nvidia remains the clear winner of the AI build-out, but with growth already heavily priced in, the focus is turning to the durability of hyperscaler spending, competitive pressures, and how quickly next-generation platforms such as Blackwell and Rubin can sustain the momentum.

Stocks on the move:

  • Snowflake (SNOW): Shares of the software company slipped more than 2% after Snowflake said first-quarter product revenue will be $1.262 billion to $1.267 billion, only slightly above the FactSet consensus of $1.26 billion.
  • The Trade Desk (TTD): Shares of the ad-tech company plunged about 16% after it guided to first-quarter adjusted EBITDA of roughly $195 million, well short of the $223 million expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet. Trade Desk also missed on its first-quarter revenue outlook, though fourth-quarter results topped estimates.
  • Synopsys (SNPS): The electronic design automation firm fell nearly 2% after its full-year revenue outlook failed to excite. Synopsys sees revenue of $9.56 billion to $9.66 billion, compared with the LSEG consensus estimate of $9.63 billion.
  • Salesforce (CRM): Shares of the customer-service software maker fell about 5% in after-hours trading. Salesforce forecast fiscal 2027 revenue of $45.8 billion to $46.2 billion, versus the FactSet consensus of $46.11 billion, even as fourth-quarter results beat expectations on both revenue and earnings.
  • Nutanix (NTNX): The cloud software company jumped 17% after Nutanix and AMD announced a multiyear partnership to develop an AI infrastructure platform, including a $150 million strategic investment by AMD in Nutanix common stock. Separately, Nutanix posted fiscal second-quarter results that beat expectations on the top and bottom lines, according to LSEG.
